Double are a duo from Zurich who appear to have mastered the light jazzy pop that goes down so well in Europe. Their LP Blue is today's equivalent of Joe Jackson's Night And Day, melancholic, sophisticated and as addictive as Lindt chocolate. Singer Kurt Maloo uses understatement, putting over a mysterious lyric perfectly suited to the cool arrangement which is mainly electric piano and alto sax. Hear "The Captain Of Her Heart" once and you can't help but hum along. Damn clever these Swiss. (Max Bell, No 1, February 1, 1986)
