Blue Zoo - Loved One's An Angel (Magnet)

Regent's Park and Whipsnade could do better. A feeble joke that. Almost as feeble as this record. Only Magnet Records' seeming ability to gain an above-average amount of air-play prevents me from totally writing it off. (Fred Dellar, Smash Hits, February 3, 1983)

Bardo - Hang On To Your Heart (Epic)

Bardo do what comes naturally and warble a ditty that could easily come seventh in the next Eurovision Song Contest. (Fred Dellar, Smash Hits, February 3, 1983)

Sounds like Jack and Jill tumbling all over the place. This is merely a variation on that old "One Step Further" theme, all bright eyes and slyly patting each other's bums. But since David and Thereze aren't speaking to each other, this might capture their old share of the market. God knows it's time Bardo started to justify their investment. A Flock Of Seagulls - Space Age Love Song (Jive)

Just one long hook that comes attached to a well-fashioned, well-fashionable, synth and guitar surround. Like a Glenn Hoddle through pass - simple but effective. Only total deafness among deejays should prevent hit status. (Fred Dellar, Smash Hits, June 10, 1982)

Punching Holes - La Mer (Pinnacle)

A French classic dating from the start of World War 2 and quite possibly the song that started the whole shindig. A great tune, actually, remembered here in all it's Gallic and garlic glory by the beret-wearing, accordion-totin' Holes. Very Nice, if you'll pardon the expression. (Fred Dellar, Smash Hits, October 14, 1982)
