Sounds a bit like Eighties hippies to me. All big violins and big production with effete little acoustic bits running underneath, giving way to a screamy guitar solo in the middle eight. Vocally it leans towards
Bowie in his finer moments, but the Mock Turtles at least know a tune when it hits them so they're excused on those grounds. (
