Fiction Factory - Ghost Of Love (CBS)

Expensively clothed and Packaged, but this is a single where absolutely nothing happens. Drearily it tries to pluck at some of ABC's old style, but misses by a cool mile. Looking at the Fiction Factory photo I reckon they've also been around a lot longer than they would want people to know about... (Robin Smith, Record Mirror, October 29, 1983)

That sounds quite nice - it's almost there. On first hearing that's got something about it. Didn't grab me totally, there's something missing but it may well be a grower. Sounds like early ABC . . . both this and Kajagoogoo, they've both got that type of production . . . the ABC Grand Production. I wouldn't be surprised if I heard it again and loved it. (Phil Fearon, Record Mirror, March 3, 1984)

I don't wish to come on like some old duffer spluttering away about mediocrity, but this really is distinctly dull. As with "(Feels Like) Heaven", what life it contains is in the chorus, but even that just sounds like ABC circa "Look Of Love". Tres vieux chapeau, dears. (Dave Rimmer, Smash Hits, March 1, 1984)

As soon as the first few bars are over, you know you've heard this somewhere before. I thought "(Feels Like) Heaven" was a great pop single - but not so great that I'd buy it again speeded up a bit with a different title. I have every faith that one day soon Fiction Factory will bring out something pure, pert and pretty. Meanwhile, this is not so much wholesome as wholesale .. . (Maureen Rice, No 1, March 3, 1984)
